Akai E2 Headrush pedal
Product Description
The Akai Professional E2 HEAD RUSH combines delay, tape echo, and a looping recorder in a single pedal. User-selectable delay options allow for maximum control of output signal. Real-time feedback and gain adjustment as well as echo rate enable sounds to be shaped with precision. E2 HEAD RUSH also simulates a four-head analog-tape machine with control of decay and spacing between virtual-tape heads to create complex multiple delays and repeats. The signal from each virtual head appears on an individual output for multiple returns when used with an external mixing console or multiple amps.Looping Recorder mode enables you to record and overdub layer after layer of sound in real-time, making E2 HEAD RUSH an unbelievable live performance tool.Depending upon which mode is selected, the left footswitch controls the on/off and play/stop functions while the right footswitch sets the tap delay time or recording and overdub options. The LED display indicates which effect in use and blinks in time showing the delay time selected.E2 HEAD RUSH empowers you to bring back sounds of yesterday, blend them with the ruggedness and flexibility of todayÕs technology, and add new functionality. Every effect-pedal board needs one!

  1. Excellent service from supplier. Great fun to use. I use looper only and I am about to gig with it. My kids also love it. The only thing is I need a splitter to play vocals and guitar. Nonethelss with a bit of practise it’s a great piece of kit.

Was a bit intimidated when I started out with this pedal, and it did take a bit of time to get used to. Looping mode, once you get the hang of it, can be a great practice aid and has plenty of creative applications. I mainly use the Headrush to get a decent digital simulacrum of tape echo, which it does very well.

I’m still getting used to the sonic possibilities here. A good all-around delay unit for stage and studio, as well as an interesting toy for exploration.

  3. When I first got the E2 it didn’t work, nothing at all – I rang up the company, who were quite decent about it, sent it back and they replaced it after 10 days or so. A bit miffed about the waiting time (only got to play with it about 3 weeks after I bought it) but it’s a great piece of kit, and I use it all the time now. Once you’ve looped a riff several times, you can’t deconstruct that loop riff by riff which is a bit annoying, I’ll probably be looking at a proper deck before long. But great for what it is.

A great pedal for live and for working out idea’s in the studio. The looping function is great with the ability to add layers of guitar parts to play along to. Very well built and very quiet.
