I love it.
It came last friday and I’ve been playing around with it ever since, looping saxophone phrases, overdubbing them and playing solos over the top.
One thing I would like to make clear(that not even the manual did at first), is that you record a base track(lets say a riff)by hitting the left pedal and then you hit the same pedal again to make it play and loop. After this is looping nicely, just hit the pedal again to start recording an overdub, hit the pedal again to stop.
You can do this basically as many times as you like, it does start distorting however after 6/7 tracks. But that’s only expected if you have a lot of moving parts which start to clash.
It’s build quality is up to the standard of Boss and the product is smaller than you would expect.
The only problem I’m having is hitting the pedal at the right time, I do it spot on quite a lot, it’s just a few times(it used to be the majority) I would leave gaps in loops. This is not a fault of the product but of human error. You start getting used to it after an hour or so.
I can’t vow for recording quality however, but for me, it’s up to the job. I’m using an old compressor mic on an old amp. I haven’t yet had a chance to use it in more professional circumstances.
So, if you’re looking for a live sampler, or one which can provide neat backing tracks whilst on stage(the write tool is extremely useful) then go for boss. Reliable, competitively priced, and amazing.
