On first use this box has a confusing variety of sounds, most of them horribly disappointing. Fine tweaking will find a few usable ones, notably the excellent punk guitar sound with good attack, but the control settings for various different effects are so diverse that this pedal would be virtually unusable for live gigs unless you want one particular sound only. It would possibly be good for recording at home or in the studio, but is far too noisy on some settings, with a high level of hiss.
Add to that the dubious Behringer plastic casing and fiddly battery compartment, perfect for losing vital parts in the dark, and this pedal is best kept at home.
Cheap though!

A great pedal for live and for working out idea's in the studio. The looping function is great with the ability to add layers of guitar parts to play along to. Very well built and very quiet.

Although Zoom are perhaps dwarfed by larger names such as Korg and Boss, they should not be ignored. This pedal is a beautiful piece of kit and for the price it is startling value.

Although it may look inferior, this has all of the power of a Boss ME series pedal, although you do sacrifice some intuitiveness of design with the basic screen. The effects are powerful and easily modified, the patch creation is simple provided you have the time to check every modulation in the manual to see what it does and the sound is rich and clean.

What really sweetens the deal, however, is the inclusion of CuBase LE, an intensely powerful piece of music recording software. It is intuitive, clever and amazingly easy to use, allowing you to create beautiful compositions with the pedal's direct USB link to your computer.

This is the sort of kit that will waste your life away, so be warned. An excellent buy.

I have used one of these professionally for several years - it adds a DI box and a tone shaper to your gear. It works kind of like a Sansamp / POD in that it adds an amp & cabinet kind of sound to your bass to give you a more aggresive/more confident signal for both your amp and the DI. I used it primarily to fatten up and freshen my bass tone before going into my amp - it added some bass and treble, lot's of punch and definetly improved my bass sound. It was cheap, durable and apart from a fiddly battery compartment was really easy to use. Admitedly my Sansamp is better - but this thing is £33 not £200 so you pays your money...

When I first got the E2 it didn't work, nothing at all - I rang up the company, who were quite decent about it, sent it back and they replaced it after 10 days or so. A bit miffed about the waiting time (only got to play with it about 3 weeks after I bought it) but it's a great piece of kit, and I use it all the time now. Once you've looped a riff several times, you can't deconstruct that loop riff by riff which is a bit annoying, I'll probably be looking at a proper deck before long. But great for what it is.

Comment on Boss ME-70 Guitar Multiple Effects by Daniel M. Hall

well, to start off, the ME-70 has 4 footswitches and an expression pedal. these are 'compression/fx, distortion, modulation and delay'.
the expression pedal has 'wah, +1 octave, -1 octave, voice, volume and modulation/delay rate'.
all the pedals can be set to different sounds/effects and then be tweaked till it's just right.

after youve got the settings that your after, you can then save them to one of nine user patches. this basically means that if you use it to gig, in between songs theres no need to stop and twiddle with the dials. you can just enter memory mode and call up wichever 'patch' you need.

it has solid build quality and it'd take quite some force to break it.
Everything is pretty straight forward to use and you will only find yourself calling on the manual todo some of the more complicated actions.

this is great value for money for any serious guitarist and will give you plenty to experiment with.
The only cons i can think off are that theres no power adapter in the box and on some rare occasions you can get a bit stuck trying to figure a few things out ie saving/recalling settings in memory mode

When this first came out, I wasn't overly interested as I had an ME-50. This board has less overdrive/distortion sounds, and as I had a BOSS GP-20 Amp Modeler, I wasn't interested in the addition of amp modeling.

I recently decided to have an effects clear out, and took a risk selling the ME-50, GP-20 a Boss OC-3 Octave pedal and an EHX Metal Muff distortion, hoping that an ME-70 would be an adequate replacement, and hopefully make a bit of cash.

I'm really pleased with my purchase, and I ended up better off as a result.

The amp modeling on the ME-70 is far better and far easier to get an impressive sound than the GP-20 (no wonder Boss discontinued it!). While there are less built-in distortion/overdrive effects, they are superior to those on the ME-50, and the 'Metal' and 'Core' effects add more versatility than I had with the Metal Muff.

Compared with the old ME-50, I would say there are ups and downs, depending on what you're after. Some features are gone - the tone modify has gone, replaced by the preamp, so no acoustic emulator. There are less distortion effects, and the 'variation' button's gone. All of the non-Boss emulated distortions are gone - Ibanez Tube Screamer, MXR Distortion+, ProCo Rat, Marshall Guvnor, EHX Big Muff... However, there are plenty of features on the ME-70 that the ME-50 lacked. The preamp is a nice amp modeler and EQ, and you can switch it off completely if you don't need it. The extra compression/FX footswitch adds boost when you need it as well as other new effects. In addition, the ME-70 has the GP-8 style metal expression pedal, rather than the plastic ME-50 pedal. It also has the GP-8 feature where the values you have dialed in are shown on the digital display as you turn the dial, so you know if you have the gain set to 50% or 51%. There is also a looper built into the delay pedal.

Overall, I would say this is a worthwhile upgrade for anyone owning a Boss ME-50. The extra pedal is great for solo boost and other effects, the distortion sounds are improved, it's better built and it has a looper. For anyone looking for a multi effects unit, this is a no-brainer. A fantastic piece of kit, which is very easy to use, well made, produces professional effects and is reasonably priced.

Amazing!
Took me a while to get used to it, but once i had done it was very useful!
Has a good amount of different effects, (which i still need to check out,) and even a dedicated reverb and delay channel, which means you're kind of getting those two pedals built in too.
On top of that it even has amp modelling in it! From acoustic to heavy metal, this is a perfect all in one solution.
I was worried about using it life as couldn't find out how to make presets, but just worked it out and it's actually quite simple, now I can play a gig and just switch between different sounds by the press of a button with my foot.
On top of that it even has a good few different drum beats built in!!!
Also thought it was very cheap for all these features, really good deal!
